Islamabad Traffic Police Takes Action Against Vips

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) claimed of issuing traffic violation tickets to twenty different VIPs including 12 army officers, 3 MNAs, 2 senior government officials, 1 MPA, 1 driver of a VIP and also the Prime Minister’s legal advisor, during last four months.

ITP officials told that 19920 were issued tickets for not fastening seat belt, 12544 for attending phone call while on road, 28817 for not wearing helmet, 6567 on lane violation, 11120 for violating traffic signal, 1591 minor drivers and 36665 for other violations.

According to the press release, 700 vehicles were transferred to workshop, 1033 were given mechanical help, 411 were provided fuel, 160 were taken to their destination, Whereas, 2777 were given quick help upon calling 1915 helpline.


They also said that departmental action was taken against 2 traffic police officials and 227 public transporters was taken as a result of public complaints against them.

Moreover, 3710 were fined for not having appropriate light, 7419 for not having driving license, 685 on over speeding, 8822 on route violation, 144 for inappropriate vehicle exhaust system and 3593 for using black glass. Total fine amounts Rs. 81578300, said ITP officials.
