Google celebrates Bahrain National Day

Google has marked Bahrain National Day with an interactive doodle by draping its letters with Bahraini flag. Apart from the flag, symbols of Dilmun era were also showcased in the form of a brass coin, that replaces one of the letters of the ‘search weapon’. Government unveils new plan to save electricity

Islamabad: The government of Pakistan has announced the distribution of 30 million Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) or energy saver bulbs under Prime Minister Energy Saver Programme to save 1000 MW electricity in the country. According to officials, the environment friendly programme is help to control load-shedding under which each household would be provided two energy savers free of cost, official sources said here on Monday. The sources said by adopting energy savers, the subscribers can also save Rs 1600 in their electricity bills per annum. Shahid Afridi says no to South African league ‘Ram Slam’

Karachi: The South African Twenty 20 league ‘Ram Slam’ is going to be started from January 5, in which 6 teams are participating in the tournament. The tournament presented by International Cricket Council (ICC). In which some Pakistani players are playing the league. All-rounder Shahid Afridi also agreed to play the tournament, but later on declined to play to give some time to his family. Doping failure: India on top as 500 athletes fail drugs tests in 5 years

New Delhi: India has now become the most cheater country as some 467 sportsmen and women have been prosecuted for failing drugs tests since 2009, with track and field athletes and weightlifters leading the pack, according to the country’s anti-doping agency.  The National Anti-Doping Agency ( NADA) posted the list on its website which showed that 110 athletes and 85 weightlifters have been slapped with sanctions over the past five years. Kabaddi, body-building, power-lifting, wrestling, boxing and judo were some of the other sports that thew up drug cheats, the list indicated. It seems to me that an unjust law is no law at all. ----Sainte Augustine There is no doubt that Americans would be shocked beyond belief had this been occurring in any other country. A sentence of life imprisonment, without any possibility of parole for crimes which are disproportionate to say the least to the sentence and punishment rendered.
