ISLAMABAD: Former chief Justice of Pakistan, justice (retd) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry says Imran Khan’s return to the National Assembly negates his own statements.
Speaking to the media on Monday after attending a funeral in Islamabad, Chaudhry said constitutionally PTI’s resignations have been accepted, adding that PTI members should not have been allowed to attend the Joint Session of Parliament.
“According to my opinion, PTI’s resignations have been approved under Article 64-A of the constitution,” Chaudhry said.
“By going back to the Parliament, Imran Khan has proved that his allegations were false,” he said.
On the matter of the judicial commission to investigate alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections, Chaudhry said the ordinance has been issued but it would have been better if it wasn’t created through an ordinance but rather an ‘Act’.
He said everyone must wait to see what allegations Imran Khan presents regarding allegations.
The former chief justice said, Pakistan should debate on whether sending troops to Saudi Arabia but added that every child of Pakistan is ready to defend the two holy mosques.
