LAHORE: The Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved formation of an anti-terrorist force in Punjab on Friday in order to counter terrorism activities.
Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif, while heading a high-level meeting at his Raiwind residence, gave approval to the political, security authorities for formation of an independent force comprising of professional and competent individuals of Police.
The high-level meeting was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Inspector General Punjab Police Khan Baig and other senior officials from political and security departments.
According to the PM, the decision was taken for eradicating the large-scale activities of terrorists and extortionists.
He said that establishment of writ is the major responsibility of the government while the terrorism and extortion elements could only be removed by taking effectively steps as well as strict implementation.
Moreover, PM ordered the related authorities that the new force should be comprised of professional and competent security officials, should be well paid and well equipped.
PM Nawaz Sharif’s approval for an independent force against terrorism came at the time when the local of Pakistan continuously facing large-scale destructive attacks from terrorists.
However, the Pakistani government signalled about commencement of peace dialogues with the banned outfit of Pakistan, called Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) but terror activities continued with its previous routine.
The powerful organisation of terrorism network in Pakistan could be observed by the October 10 attacks conducted in all four provincial capitals of the country on the day Prime Minister Muhammed Nawaz Sharif was on visit to Peshawar for reviewing security situation
The attacks were carried out by using low-intensity explosives by the terrorist which killed at least 12 persons and injured more than 70 overall in four provinces, according to media reports.
