ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s political parties has refused to support Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s demand for handing over Karachi to army personnels.
Talking to a local TV Channel, Abid Sher Ali was the first PML (N) leader criticise MQM. He said that Mutahida’s demand for the deployment of army to control the situation in Karachi is against the constitution.
He further said that instead, a solution can be sought out in a democratic and politcal manner to control the situation of the metropolitan city. On the other hand, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and Farooq Sattar urged that army must be deployed in Karachi in order to control the law and order situation.
According to Mr. Hussain, the provincial government has been unable to maintain the situation of law and order. MQM’s demand for the deployment of army in the metropolitan city of Karachi was opposed by all parties including Pakistan People’s Party, Awami National Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League and Jamat e Islami.
However, according to Mutahida Qaumi Movement, deployment of army is in accordance with Article 245 of the 1975 constitution of Pakistan.
