Washington: US carrier Metro PCS is offering Samsung’s biggest smartphone Samsung Galaxy Mega from November 25.
The 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega will cost $399, it is the biggest smartphone produced by Samsung. If you thought Samsung blurred the lines between a smartphone and a small tablet with its 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3, the company takes that idea to a whole new level with its 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega.
The smartphone/tablet hybrid has already made its way to Sprint and AT&T, and it will land on MetroPCS Nov. 25 with a $399 price tag. New customers purchasing the Galaxy Mega 6.3 in MetroPCS retail stores will receive an additional $50 instant rebate, bringing the cost of the smartphone down to $349.
“MetroPCS wants consumers to get the most for their money, and by eliminating the need and cost of two separate devices and delivering a premium 4G LTE mobile experience for as low as $40 a month, we’re providing quality and value in a mega way,” said Tom Keys, COO and executive vice president of MetroPCS. “The Galaxy Mega offers a large screen experience on-the-go with the portability of a smartphone and the larger viewing display of a tablet and we’re delivering it on an advanced nationwide 4G LTE network.”
The Samsung Galaxy Mega sports a 6.3-inch 1280 x 720 PLS HD display. It’s powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and ships with 1.5GB of RAM. Samsung has packed in an 8-megapixel rear camera that can record full HD video and a 1.9-megapixel front facing camera for video chatting.
The Galaxy Mega 6.3 ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and also runs Samsung’s TouchWiz Nature UX. It includes 16GB of internal storage and also has a microSD expansion slot that will allow you to use up to 64GB microSD cards to further increase its storage. When it comes to wireless connectivity options you’ll find a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and GPS. Samsung ships the Galaxy Mega 6.3 with a 3,200 mAh removable battery and a built-in IR blaster that turns the device into a universal remote control and program guide.
MetroPCS will begin selling the Galaxy Mega 6.3 on Nov. 25 online and in retail stores.
