Washington: As new trend of big screen tablets is setting up, Samsung have some bigger plans for 2014.
Samsung has been rumored to be working on a 12.2-inch Galaxy Note Pro tablet and an image of the purported device has just leaked.
Reports claimed that Samsung will be shifting its attention from smartphones to tablets in 2014 as the company looks to do with tablets what it has done with smartphones.
The company has been working on a 12.2-inch Galaxy Note tablet that could officially be called the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. The tablet would be Samsung’s largest to date and since it’s part of the Galaxy Note family, it would ship with the company’s beloved S Pen stylus.
Samsung won’t be alone in releasing a tablet in the 12-inch range, as its biggest rival, Apple, is also rumored to be working on a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The South Korean company has not confirmed the Galaxy Note Pro’s existence, but an image of the large tablet has made its way online.
Cdpkorea has posted an image of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, but it’s photographed from the rear and doesn’t give a view of the tablet’s display.
The image does show that the purported Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will be much larger than any of the company’s current tablets and also appears to be thicker than the smaller Galaxy Note 10.1. In an update to its original article, SamMobile claims that one of its insiders has confirmed the existence of the device.
Sources claim the Galaxy Note 12.2 Pro will likely use very similar specs found in the Galaxy Note 10.1. The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is expected to feature a 12.2-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 and run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with Samsung’s TouchWiz Nature UX running on top. The tablet will be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly.
The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is expected to ship in a Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + LTE model. It will reportedly come in three storage configurations – 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB – and include a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB of additional memory. It will have enhanced S Pen functionality and a very large 9,500 mAh battery.
Samsung is expected to make an official Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 announcement at CES 2014 in January or Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 in February.
