9 persons lost lives in road accidents in Punjab

LAHORE: Two traffic accidents at Dunyapur and Lahore claimed nice precious lives on Wednesday in Punjab province of Pakistan.

At least six persons including three women were killed and 17 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and mini container. The incident took place near Kala Khatai Mor.

According to rescue sources, seven women and two men have been shifted to Lahore’s Mayo Hospital whereas others have been discharged after the treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. The bus which met with accident was going to Narowal from Lahore after visiting Hafiz Je Pir shrine in Lahore.

The dead include Muhammad Bibi, Sadia Bibi and Rukhsana Bibi.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Mubarak and Zeeshan died in the hospital. All people present in bus were residents of Bara Pind area of Zaffar Wal sub-district of Narowal.

On the other hand, three persons were killed and four others sustained injuries when a passenger bus traveling from Sadiqabad to Faisalabad collided with a truck at Superhighway in Duniyapur in Lodhran. The road remained blocked for nearly four hours.

Two students including Rashid son of Khawaja Riaz Ahmed resident of Pul Mehmood area and Nasir son of Haji Zulfiqar and a van conductor Fayaz son of Jan Muhammad were among those killed in the incident. Meanwhile, a group of agitated students torched the bus.

The bodies of the dead and the injured persons have been shifted to the hospital. On the other hand the police had arrested the driver of the bus Sarfraz son of Ghulam Muhammad Kharal from Jehanian.
