Google is celebrating the 82nd birthday of US zoologist and gorilla expert Dian Fossey with one of its patented doodles.

Visitors to Google’s homepage (www.google.com) were greeted with a collection of images of gorillas, including one touching her hair.

As in the past, clicking on the doodle will take the visitor to a Google Search Results page for Dian Fossey.

“Dian Fossey was an American zoologist who undertook a comprehensive study of gorilla groups over a period of 18 years. She studied them in the mountain forests of Rwanda,” said IBN Live.

UK’s The Independent added Fossey studied gorillas living in the mountain forests of Rwanda over 18 years.

“Her extensive research greatly enriched the scientific community’s understanding of mountain gorillas,” it added.

Fossey was killed in her cabin in Karisoke in 1985, and The Digit Fund, which she created to finance her anti-poaching patrols, was renamed the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International after she died.
