Karachi police arrest MQM groom from his wedding

KARACHI: Police have allegedly arrested a groom during his wedding ceremony in Karachi on Friday, family claim.

According to local media, the family of the groom, Fahad, have claimed that the members of the law enforcement agency raided their wedding procession when they were going to get the bride in Shah Faisal colony of the city.

Sources said that Fahad is a member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) unite 79 and also a candidate for the local bodies election. Another MQM worker Rehan Qureshi was also arrested on the occasion.

Meanwhile, condemning the arrest of Fahad, the MQM spokesman has announced to hold an emergency press conference.

Altaf Hussain reaction:

MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the arrest and demanded the army chief to take notice of the Rangers activities. He said that five of his workers had been killed in few months while many had been missing.

MQM Press Conference:

Hours after an alleged arrest from Shah Faisal colony, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded the government to change the top police leadership of Karachi police within 24 hours.

Addressing an emergency press conference, the members of the Rabita Committee (coordination committee) said the person, arrested from Shah Faisal colony on his way to wedding, was their member.

They said that their activists are being killed in the city.

The committee demanded the government to change to top leadership of the police within 24 hours. “We will announce our future course of action if our demands are not met in 24 hours.”
