“Measures on war footing for resolving energy crisis”ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that government is taking measures on war footing for resolving energy crisis and the promise to remove shortage of electricity will be fulfilled at any cost.

He said that new power generation projects from hydel, thermal and alternative resources will be set up.

The Chief Minister said that government is fully aware of the problems of industrial sector especially textile industry and a comprehensive policy will be devised for the supply of electricity and gas to this sector so that not only industrial sector could resume its activities but job opportunities could also be created.

According to TheNewsTribe’s correspondent from Pakistan’s capital city “he was talking to office-bearers of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) who met him in Islamabad today.”

Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Muhammad Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Member National Assembly Pervaiz Malik were also present on this occasion.

Acting Chairman of APTMA Wasal A. Munnoo, Shahzad Ali Khan, former chairman APTMA Gohar Ijaz, former vice chairman APTMA SM Tanveer and Amir Fayyaz Sheikh comprised the APTMA delegation.

Various proposals to give relief to textile sector in load-shedding were considered in the meeting.

Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan Muslim League-N has been given a heavy mandate by the masses in general elections for reviving national economy and resolving energy crisis.

He said that PML-N government will spare no effort to remove shortage of energy. He said that steps will be taken after evolving comprehensive policies and programmes for the revival and progress of industrial as well as other sectors of national economy.

The Chief Minister said that the recent visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to China has been very successful and Chinese investors have expressed keen interest in investment in energy sector.

He said that industrial sector has faced various problems due to load-shedding of gas and electricity.Had due attention been paid in the past to resolving this problem, the nation would not have faced difficulties, he added.

He said that all out encouragement is being extended to investment in energy sector especially production of electricity. He said that maximum facilities would be provided to investors for generation of power from coal, solar, biomass and alternative resources.

Shahbaz Sharif said that all options for generation of electricity at minimum cost are being considered. He said that rapid progress is being made in Punjab for resolving load-shedding problem and government is taking all possible steps to minimize load-shedding of gas and electricity.

He said that the goal of economic revival and prosperity cannot be achieved without overcoming energy crisis therefore Pakistan Muslim League-N governments at the centre and provincial level are fully concentrating on investment and launching of projects in energy sector.

The Chief Minister said that all out facilities would be provided in Punjab under one-window operation to the local and foreign investors for the projects of generation of power.

APTMA delegation led by acting Chairman Wasal A Munno said that textile as well as whole industrial sector has been badly affected by the load-shedding of electricity.

The members of the delegation appreciated the government efforts for overcoming energy problem and expressed the hope that it will improve economy and the desired results would be achieved.
