KARACHI: Renowned columnist and TV host Dr. Shahid Masood said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will face more problems in London in future besides claiming that the BBC documentary against the party was based upon information by British Police.
Mr. Masood claimed that BBC has more films in the pipeline against MQM and as the media group is state run, MQM can take legal action against the group if it feels that the documentary is false or slanderous.
Expressing his views about the matter in a TV show aired on Pakistan’s JAAG Television and the tweets following the show, he said that all the suspects in Imran Farooq murder case are in Pakistan and their statements are recorded by intelligence agencies.
Mr. Masood advised MQM chief Altaf Hussain through the show that he should name his successor , so that no splinter group can take over the party. He revealed that Pakistani establishment sends messages to Altaf Hussain through Governor Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ibad but some close aides of MQM chief discard his suggestions thinking that Mr. Ishrat is establishment’s tout.
The columnist revealed that MQM has many splinter groups and the famous Hammad Siddiqui fiasco had sectarian touch to it.
Answering a question about the resulting turmoil in Karachi, he said that international establishment does not want unrest in the port city as its economic interests are both with Pathans and Mohajirs residing in the city.
After the programme Mr. Shahid Masood tweeted that there is immense pressure on MQM for minus Altaf formula but the party is not accepting it besides claiming that all MQM leaders love Altaf Hussain despite minor trifles with each other.
