Washington: As MWC is just few weeks away, Nokia is eyeing to introduce its dual-SIM smartphone likely Nokia Asha 504.
Nokia has launched several high-end devices recently, but the company’s lower-end offerings are also a very important source of revenue, especially in emerging markets.
The Nokia Asha line has proved to be very successful, as it consists of low-end phones with dirt cheap price tags, but with some notable features for their category.
Nokia is expected to unveil several goodies at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 trade show that will kick off later this month in Barcelona, and new leaks are now boosting expectations.
Famous tipster @evleaks has just posted a press render of an Asha-like phone, but the handset looks quite different compared to the models that are currently available on the market. The tweet only mentions that it’s a dual-SIM edition, but doesn’t give any details regarding the device’s specifications. No name is listed, but the handset could be the upcoming Asha 504.
The device shown in the leaked press render seems to be an Asha variant, but with some changes in design. It doesn’t look like the recent Asha 5.xx devices, as the photo shows thinner bezels around the display.
The screen seems to be about 3.2 – 3.5 inches in size, and the phone’s home button doesn’t look like the previous Asha lineup. Instead, the new home button seems reminiscent of the one found on Samsung handsets. The display also reveals Bing as the default search engine.
While @evleaks has not offered any conclusive information about this purported device, it will most likely launch as a redesigned Asha model. Extensive leaks recently have also hinted to an imminent debut for Nokia’s first Android smartphone, dubbed “Normandy” or “Nokia X,” but it’s unlikely that this leaked render depicts that Android handset.
Nokia is expected to unveil several devices at the upcoming MWC 2014, and this leaked phone could be one of them, likely launching as the Asha 504. The Nokia Normandy could also make a debut at the conference, but take everything with a grain of salt until officially confirmed.
