PM Nawaz to chair high-level meeting on fuel management

LAHORE: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has cancelled all his official engagements scheduled for Monday and would spend the day chairing meetings on fuel management focusing on provision of immediate relief to the people.

The Prime Minister, who has taken serious notice of fuel shortage, is expected to take important decisions in these meetings so that those responsible for this situation are taken to task and supply-demand gap is bridged.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Prime Minister unequivocally said that people should not suffer and every measure will be taken to provide them relief on immediate basis.

As the petrol crisis further intensified in Punjab, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Monday to discuss matters pertaining to the payments of Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

The prime minister has also ordered investigation against Ministry of Petroleum, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) officials, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and other private companies.

He has directed for taking action against responsible of petroleum shortage and for adopting measures on emergency basis to providing relief to the masses.

Canceling all his official engagements, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will chair a meeting on fuel management today (Monday). It is expected that the prime minister will take important decisions to bridge the demand-supply gap.

The premier will chair meetings on fuel management, focusing on the provision of immediate relief to the people and is expected to take important decisions, taking to task those responsible for the current shortage and ensure measures are taken to bridge the supply-demand gap.

 “The prime minister unequivocally said that people should not suffer and every measure will be taken to provide them relief on immediate basis,” a statement from the PM House stated on Sunday.

On Saturday the prime minister suspended four senior government officials, including some who had consistently been warning the government in advance of the impending crisis.
