LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf central spokesperson Dr Shireen Mazari has stated that PTI had the highest regard and admiration for Justice (retd) Bhagwandas for appointment on National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s key post.
Mazari stated the PTI stance through PTI’s official website on the appoint of Justice Bagwadas on NAB chairman’s post
However, Dr Mazari added, PTI’s position is that making individual-specific alterations in the laws/Constitution is not acceptable as it undermines norms, rules and procedures for the future by setting a precedence that others may exploit politically.
Therefore, Dr Mazari concluded, to seek to alter prevailing norms in order to accomodate Justice (retd) Bhagwandas as NAB chairman would be doing a great injustice to Justice (retd) Bhagwandas himself since he has always upheld norms, rules and procedures.
It is pertinent to note, the leader of pposition in National Assembly Khurshid Shah also named Justice (r) Bhagwandas for the post.
Moreover, Justice (retd) Bhagwandas excused earlier to be appointed on the post due to the opinion of supreme court and legislations caused hurdles because according to the law, a person who served FPSC as a chairman is not allowed to be selected on other post.
Supreme Court suggested that any amendment in the FPSC law cannot be accepted for one person.
For his sake of respect, Bhagwandas has declined on becoming the chairman of NAB.
