Razzaq Daud Receives Srilankan Trade Delegation Headed by the Ministers

Islamabad(Press Release) Mr. Abdul Razzak Dawood, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Trade and Investment welcomed the Minister of Trade of Sri Lanka, Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana and State Minister for Regional Cooperation, Mr. Tharaka Balasuriya at the Ministry of Commerce. Dr. Gunawardhana and Mr. Balasuriya along with top Sri Lankan Business delegation are currently visiting Pakistan from 20th January to 27th January, 2022. The meeting was also attended by Secretary, Commerce and high ranking officials from both sides.


The Adviser while recalling the successful Trade and Investment Conference held earlier last year in Colombo, expressed his satisfaction over the continued engagement of business communities of both friendly countries. Both sides expressed hope that these engagements would further strengthen the bilateral trade relations through leveraging the Pakistan-Sri Lanka FTA.Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana expressed the strong affinity of Srilankans for the people of Pakistan and hoped that these strong foundations will help build even stronger relationships built on mutual trust and support. He thanked the Adviser for extending warm hospitality and goodwill towards Sri Lanka. He expressed keen desire to expand cooperation with Pakistan in diverse areas of trade, ICT, pharmaceuticals, minerals, textiles through contacts, joint ventures, investments in high potential sectors and technology transfers. The Adviser later hosted a dinner under strict Covid-19 SOPs for the visiting delegation, where the business community expressed their satisfaction over successful visits and B2B meetings held in Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore.
The Visiting delegation on the special recommendation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan visited Taxila Museum and cultural heritage sites in Haripur on the last day of their visit before leaving for Colombo this afternoon.
