ISLAMABAD: The Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad has announced to form a new opposition, ‘real opposition group’, in the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad created a three-member group in the NA; claiming it the real opposition group in the Pakistan’s house.

Speaking to media outside the Parliament House, the seasoned politician said two independent MNAs – Jamshed Dasti and Zain Ilahi – have joined the group besides Sheikh Rasheed himself who will be head of the group.

The Rasheed’s new group strongly opposed the appointed of Syed Khurshid Shah as chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

He said four other lawmakers would also join hands with him. “Formation of this group will not affect alliance with other parties, including PTI,” Rasheed claimed.

He was of the view that the existing opposition is not playing its due role which compelled him to form a new group in the National Assembly.

Sheikh Rashid said that four more members would be joining ‘Real Parliamentary Group’ and added presently no party in the parliament was playing the role of genuine opposition.

He said that such a person was being made Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman, who was not even its member. He said that the conspiracies are being hatched against the transparent accountability process.
