Verizon Moto G receive Android 4.4.2 KitKat update

Washington: Motorola still facing tough time to maintain its goodwill in the smartphone market, but still manage to release Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Verizon Moto G.

The Moto G is Motorola’s entry-level smartphone that has some impressive specs and an even more impressive price. It can be purchased unlocked to run on AT&T and T-Mobile’s 3G GSM networks and is also offered as a pre-paid smartphone from Verizon Wireless, is priced at $99.99 contract-free. Verizon customers have been waiting for an update to Android 4.4 KitKat, as the smartphone shipped with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Existing and potential new Verizon customers looking to get a solid Android smartphone that is running the latest Android KitKat, is relatively inexpensive and runs on Verizon’s solid network should consider the Moto G.

AndroidCentral is reporting that Verizon Moto G owners can now run a software update to download and install Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The Moto G features a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 LCD display with a pixel density of 329 pixels per inch (ppi). Motorola has chosen to use a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with MSM 8×26, Adreno 305 graphics and 1GB of RAM. The Moto G ships with 8GB of internal storage and users will also benefit from 50GB of cloud space through Google Drive for two years.

The smartphone’s camera capabilities include a 5-megapixel rear camera with 4x digital zoom, panorama, and slow motion video. The Moto G ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on board, but can be upgraded to Android 4.4.2 KitKat via an over the air (OTA) update. In terms of wireless connectivity you’ll find a 3G radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. Motorola ships the Moto G with a 2,070 mAh non-removable battery. Users will be able to customize the Moto G through the use of removable back plates and cases sold separately.

If you’re interested in trying out the Verizon pre-paid Moto G, the carrier is offering the smartphone through it online store for $99.99. Monthly plans start out at $50 and go up to $70 per month for unlimited minutes, mobile to mobile, texting/ picture messaging, and either 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB of data.
